International visitors thrilled with parkrun standards

International visitors thrilled with experience at the Victoria Lake Parkrun.

Parkruns are weekly, 5km timed runs, which take place on Saturday mornings around the world.

They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in.

These events take place in pleasant parkland surroundings and encourage people from all walks of life to participate; from walkers or those taking their first steps in running to Olympians, from juniors to those with more experience, all are welcome.

Recently Andrea Phillips and Ian Hunneybel, from England, took part in the Victoria Lake Parkrun held at Germiston Lake.

Phillips commented that the run and its organisers were brilliant by international standards.

The parkrun has become a popular event in Germiston growing in numbers each week, since its inception in July 2016.

For more information on the run call Victoria Lake Parkrun director Simon Treston on 082 415 6340.
