Eagles fly over opponents

The Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club won all three weekend fixtures.

It was a victorious weekend for the Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club who won all their weekend fixtures.

The club’s Saturday Second League match was against Eden Park Cricket Club, at Eden Park’s home grounds.

The Eagles batted first and clinched 165 runs in their 35 overs.

Eden Park came in to bat and was bowled out for 144 runs.

The match’s top batsmen were Trent Murray with 72 runs not out and Schalk Groenewald with 56 runs.

The top bowlers were Brandon du Plooy with four wickets for 22 runs in seven overs and Garreth Hann with three wickets for 20 runs in six overs.

This left Eagles with a 22 run victory.

The Presidents League match against Thokoza Cricket Club was a home game at the Scaw Main Oval in Dinwiddie.

Eagles batted first and set a target of 204 runs for 10 wickets in their 40 overs.

Thokoza came in to bat and could only make 81 runs in their 40 overs.

The top bowlers were Darren van Tonder with five wickets for 29 runs in eight overs.

Top batsmen were Frans Louw with 62 runs not out and van Tonder with 25 runs.

The Promotion League match saw Eagles travelling to Midrand to play against Midrand Cricket Club.

The Eagles again batted first and set a target of 229 runs for 10 wickets in their 50 overs.

When Midrand came in to bat they could only make 168 runs all out in their 50 overs.

The day’s top batsmen were Henko Black with 49 runs and Jacque Jansen van Vuuren with 46 runs.

Top bowlers were du Plooy with three wickets for 20 runs in eight overs and Black with two wickets for 22 runs in 10 overs.

This gave Eagles a 61 run victory.
