Laerskool Oosterkruin raises the champion’s trophy

Local primary school wins Germiston North Inter-Primary athletics event.

Laerskool Oosterkruin is celebrating.

The school beat all competition to win the recent Germiston North Inter-Primary athletics event.

Ten schools, namely Laerskool Oosterkruin, Leeuwenhof Akademie, Primrose Primary, Sunnyridge Primary, Primrose Hill Primary, Bedfordview Primary, Laerskool Die President, Edenglen Primary, Klopper Park Primary and Laerskool M W de Wet participated in the competition.

Principal of Laerskool Oosterkruin Chris Kruger said: “We are extremely proud to say we won the event.

“This is the first time we have won in a long time.”

The Laerskool Oosterkruin athletes who excelled at the recent Germiston North Inter-Primary athletics event, which took place at Germiston Stadium, bringing glory to their school.

And to top off the school’s excellent achievement, 36 athletes were chosen to compete at the D17 athletics competition, which includes schools from Germiston North, Benoni, Kempton Park, Daveyton and Tembisa, which was due to take place on Tuesday.

“From the competitors at the D17 competition, a D17 team will be chosen to compete at the Gauteng championships,” Kruger said.

“We are very happy with our athletes’ achievements.”
