Highs and lows for Luso Africa FC

Weekly results and fixtures for Luso Africa FC.

Luso Africa FC, based at Hattingh Park, in Primrose, had a full week of matches.

In preparation for the Eastern Local Football Association’s (ELFA) Super League, which begins in March, Luso’s senior teams took part in the Top Eight Tournament.

The tournament sees the top eight teams from the previous season going head-to-head in a series of friendly matches.

The teams travelled to Old Bens Football Club, in Benoni, for their first fixture of the tournament.

It was the first game for the senior players and the lack of sharpness was evident with both the reserve team (3-0) and first team (4-1) losing their matches.

First team coach Richard Walker was unhappy with the results but pleased with the effort the teams made in their first game.

Other results:

  • Luso’s veterans won their division two match against Alberton FC.
  • Luso’s veterans won their division one match after a walk over, when the Bedfordview FC team, unhappy with the linesman’s decision, walked off the field with the score at 2-2.

Due to this, Luso was awarded the points for the game, keeping them top of the log.

  • Luso’s SAB team drew their match against Tembisa Soccer Centre 1-1 to remain undefeated in the season.
  • Luso’s women’s teams played in the ladies league with the A side losing 4-2 to Setsweke FC and the B team winning 10-0 against Bonaero FC.

With this result the B team will now proceed to the next round.
