Year’s training pays off

Mark Strydom SA JKA Karate Centre held its Wychwood Club Championships at the Wychwood dojo, last Saturday.

Students and coaches trained hard in preparation for the championships and their hard work was well-rewarded with impressive results.

The club’s results were as follows:

Kata (four to six years):

• Thapelo Pushuli – first place.
• Luna Lavares – second place.
• Troy Otto – third place.

Kumite (four to six years):

• Luna Tavares – first place.
• Troy Otto – second place.
• Pushuli – third place.

Kata (seven to nine years):

• Jordan de Connick – first place.
• Jayden de Connick – second place.
• Nathan Govender – third place.

Kumite (seven to nine years):

• Jordan – first place.
• Jayden – second place.
• Nathan and Tavares – third place.

Kata (10 years):

• Tylin Govender – first place.
• Jayden – second place.
• Ethan Govender – third place.

Kumite (10 years):

• Ethan – first place.
• Dylan Bosnjak – second place.
• Jayden Govender, Ethan Govender and Josh Debipersad – third place.
