Discipline instilled in soccer players

Build It Rondebult helped build children’s morale in soccer.

Rondebult Build It hosted its u-13 Soccer Challenge in Rondebult, on Saturday.

The challenge saw nine teams competing for the ultimate number one spot.

The teams were representing their schools as they showcased their talents.

“The aim of this annual event is to help encourage children to excel in soccer,” said the event co-ordinator, Ansie Durandt.

“We also want children to know that in order for them to succeed they have to have discipline.”

Build It freestyle soccer ambassador and anti-drug activist, Zain Patel, entertained the children with his football skills and also shared a few words to motivate them.

“Please don’t fall into the trap of dealing and doing drugs because they can destroy your future,” he said.

“I have seen a lot of top performing soccer players go from being at the top of their game to having nothing due to drugs.

“Be wise, have discipline and say no to drugs.”

The teams played against each other and Sonqobo Primary School were the winners of the challenge with Izibuko Primary School being the runners-up.

“The event went well and the children had a blast, it was a success,” Durandt said.
