Elsburg continue Easterns Cricket League campaign

The Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club took on the Kempton Park Cricket Club in the Second League of the Easterns Cricket League.

The Elsburg Eagles Cricket Club had a quiet weekend, with the team competing only in the Easterns Cricket League, Second League.

The team travelled to Kempton Park on Saturday, for the match against the Kempton Park Cricket Club.

The home side won the toss and decided to bat first, posting a score of 168 runs, all out, in their 35 overs.

Top bowlers on the day were Christiaan du Preez, Schalk Groenewald and Trent Murray, all of whom claimed three wickets.

It was then Elsburg’s turn to bat and, despite their best efforts, they posted a score of only 131, all out.

This meant Kempton won the match by 37 runs.

Elsburg’s top batsman was Garreth Hann, who made 42 of the team’s runs.

“We are so proud of the players who played in this game, as Kempton Park is a Premier League club, with a lot of talent and provincial players.”

“It’s just showing us that we are on the right track,” said Martiens Grobler.

The team will next face the Etwatwa Cricket Club, in the Promotion League, on Sunday morning; the match will be played on the Scaw Main Oval, in Dinwiddie.

The club will also play in the President’s League, on Sunday afternoon, at the Elsburg Sports Grounds.
