The 2016 Junior Rugby League has come to an end for the Elsburg Eagles Rugby Club.
The club played their final matches at the Kempton Park Rugby Club’s Junior Rugby Day, on Saturday.
Teams played against opponents from Benoni, Kempton Park and Brakpan, and walked away with one draw and eight losses.
“Our teams played some fantastic rugby against the top teams of the season and showed impressive development skills.
“We, as a club and coaches, feel we have reached our goals by improving our players’ skills,” said Tyron Smuts, chairman of the club.
The club will now look ahead to the new season, starting in March 2017.

- U-7:
Game 1: lost 3-5 against Brakpan.
Game 2: lost 1-7 against Kempton Park.
- U-8
Game 1: lost 0-1 against Kempton Park.
Game 2: draw 1-1 against Benoni.
- U-9
Game 1: lost against 0-32 Brakpan.
Game 2: lost 10-15 against Brakpan.
- U-10
League game: lost 0-24 against Brakpan.
- U-11
League game: lost 0-22 against Brakpan.
- U-13
League game: lost 19-26 against Brakpan.
- U-18
League game was cancelled.
“A big thank you to all our supporters, the Elsburg Sports Club, parents, coaches, committee and, most importantly, our players, for an outstanding rugby season,” said Smuts.
The Eagles will host a special prize giving on October 15, to honour the players of this season.
