Disappointing weekend for Eagles

The Elsburg Eagles Rugby Club continued their league campaign at the Boksburg Junior Rugby Club’s rugby day.

The Elsburg Eagles Rugby Club travelled to Boksburg on Saturday to take part in the Boksburg Junior Rugby Club’s rugby day.

“Our teams faced off against teams from Boksburg, Heidelberg, Vereeniging and Springs,” explained Tyron Smuts, chairman of the club.

Despite the teams’ best efforts most suffered defeats with the u-15 team being the only team to draw their match.

“Despite the disappointing results we thank all our players for their efforts. They played like stars,” Smuts said.

The club’s results are as follows:

  •  U-7

Game 1: lost 0-10 against Springs.

Game 2: lost 0-10 against Boksburg.

  •  U-8

Game 1: lost 0-7 Vereeniging.

Game 2: lost 0-10 against Kempton.

  •  U-9

League lost: 10-17 against Suikerbosrand.

  •  U-10

League: lost 5-31 against Suikerbosrand.

  •  U-11

League: lost 0-45 against Suikerbosrand.

  •  U-12

League: lost 5-10 against Suikerbosrand.

  •  U-13

League: lost 0-45 against Suikerbosrand.

  •  U-15

League: draw 22-22 against Vereeniging.

“We once again thank all the coaches, team managers and supporters for all their efforts,” said Smuts.

The club will travel to Benoni this Saturday for their next set of matches.
