Tough weekend matches for Eagles

The Elsburg Eagles Rugby Club hosted league matches at their Elspark home grounds at the weekend.

It was a weekend of tough defeats and nail-biting wins for the Elsburg Eagles Rugby Club.

The club hosted a number of league matches on their home ground, the Elspark Sport Grounds, on Saturday.

“A huge thank you to all my players in the club; you all made me proud, win or lose, you all played like super stars,” said club chairman Tyron Smuts.

The club’s results are:

  •  U-7:

Game 1: lost 7-10 against Kempton Park.

Game 2: lost 0-7 against Boksburg.

  •  U-8:

Game 1: won 7-0 against Springs.

Game 2: lost 0-4 against Bobbies.

  •  U-9:

League: won 20-19 against Bobbies.

  •  U-10:

League: lost 10-27 against Bobbies.

  •  U-11:

League: won 15-12 against Bobbies.

  •  U-12:

League: Automatic win against Springs.

Social: lost 0-31 against Vereeniging.

  •  U-13:

Games cancelled.

  •  U-15:

League: lost 21-44 against Bobbies.

  •  U-18

League: lost 0-32 against Brakpan.

“I thank my committee, coaches, team managers, parents and supporters for their support and effort in making this day a huge success,” said Smuts.

The club recently received an A+ accreditation after an external audit, which means that it is rated as the top club in the Valke Region.

Eagles will travel to Boksburg on Saturday, August 20, for their next league matches.
