Narrow defeat for Elsburg

The Elsburg Rugby Club took on Buffels in a tough match on Saturday.

In a tough match that went down to the wire, Elsburg Rugby Club came up against Buffels on Saturday.

The match, played at Elsburg’s home grounds, the Elspark Sports Grounds, saw the home team put in good defence and running tactics to lead the game 24-17 at the half-time whistle.

Elsburg’s dominance did not last, however, with Buffels making a strong comeback in the second half.

The men in red fought hard to pip Elsburg at the post by a point at the end of an extremely fast-paced, tough encounter.

The final result Elsburg 36; Buffels 37.

Elsburg scored five tries during the game, with the team’s man of the match Rian van Wyk (Skillie) scoring a try, four conversions and a penalty.

The other try scorers were: Kieran Campbell, Ruan Bezuidenhout, Gerald Pretorius and Eugene Scott.

Elsburg are looking forward to taking on Delmas this Saturday, in an away match.
