Athletes take to the streets

Germiston Callies Harriers were pleased with the turnout at their weekly time trials last Tuesday.

Germiston Callies Harriers hosted their weekly time trials, last Tuesday.

The week saw an impressive turnout despite the cooler evening weather.

The time trials started in January and are held outside the Germiston Stadium’s main gate, in Delville Road North, with 4km and 8km distances offered.

Some of the times recorded in the 4km run were:

  • Johannes Tefo with a time of 15 minutes and 26 seconds.
  • Sandile Vilikazi with a time of 20 minutes and 35 seconds.
  • Tarryn Herbst with a time of 22 minutes and eight seconds.
  • Carolina Jacobs with a time of 22 minutes and eight seconds.
  • Harold Niederbroker with a time of 29 minutes and 47 seconds.
  • Joyce Leshota with a time of 36 minutes and 31 seconds.
  • Julia Mabe with a time of 36 minutes and 32 seconds.
  • Freda Ndou with a time of 37 minutes and 38 seconds.
  • Sharon Holliday with a time of 43 minutes and 12 seconds.

Some of the times recorded in the 8km run were:

  • Petros Mosea with a time of 31 minutes and 44 seconds.
  • Bheki Hlatshwayo with a time of 32 minutes and 57 seconds.
  • John Nyansanga with a time of 35 minutes and 10 seconds.
  • Elton Rapodile with a time of 41 minutes and two seconds.
  • Jackie Ngubane with a time of 41 minutes and two seconds.
  • Richard Nyathi with a time of 41 minutes and 17 seconds.
  • Willie Thokire with a time of 45 minutes and 55 seconds.
