Coach says youngster can get to the top

Local tennis school helps tomorrow’s stars better themselves.

Talented young tennis player Relebogile Rakgole recently visited the Ekurhuleni Tennis School of Excellence for some specialised training.

The tennis school, located at the Germiston Stadium, was the perfect place for Rakgole to hone her skills before taking on the recent Glenvista Junior Tennis Tournament.

The youngster, who is coached by her father, Walter, did extremely well in the tournament, winning the u-10 girls’ section by beating 10 other girls.

This is the second year in a row she has won her section at the tournament.

Young tennis talent Relebogile Rakgole practices her ball skills at the Ekurhuleni Tennis School of Excellence, located at the Germiston Stadium.

Rakgole lives in Polokwane, in Limpopo, and comes to the tennis school in her school holidays for specialised training.

The head coach of Ekurhuleni Tennis School of Excellence, Loyiso Matsha, said: “Rakgole is highly talented and, with proper and consistently intensive coaching, has the potential to go all the way and to represent South Africa one day.

“A lot of work still has to be done, but the sky is the limit.”

Early in April, Relebogile will play in another tournament, in Polokwane, and if she maintains her present form, she stands a good chance of excelling.

Matsha said that, during the school holidays, he often invites juniors from outside the province to train at the school.

After receiving her trophy for her win at the tournament, an ecstatic Rakgole said: “Thank you dad for teaching me tennis.”
