Germiston Callies Harriers athletes Pedro Aaron and Simone van der Nest recently impressed judges and spectators alike at the SA Schools Championships.
The championships, held in Bloemfontein, saw Aaron win the boys u-17 long jump with a distance of 7.03m.
His coach, Stephané Kotzé, was very impressed with his performance.
According to Kotzé, Aaron is in excellent form and has improved his distance with every meeting.
“I believe Aaron has a very good chance of winning a medal at the SA Championships in April, this year,” said Kotze.
Van der Nest competed in the women’s u-19 100m and 200m sprints, winning both events.
She won the 100m in a time of 12 seconds and the 200m in a time of 24.05 seconds
Both were named as part of the Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) national team.
