Runners take to the streets

The Germiston Callies Harriers time trials returned to the streets of Germiston last Tuesday.

Germiston Callies Harriers hosted their weekly time trials, last Tuesday.

The popular time trials started in January and are held outside the Germiston Stadium’s main gate, in Delville Road North, with 4km and 8km distances offered.

The week saw a positive turnout after a school athletics event caused the previous week’s time trials to be cancelled.

Some of the times recorded in the 4km run were:

  • Victor Mhlakaza with a time of 19 minutes and 31 seconds.
  • Gerhard Herbst with a time of 21 minutes and 34 seconds.
  • Carolina Jacobs with a time of 21 minutes and 39 seconds.
  • Tarryn Herbst with a time of 23 minutes and 13 seconds.
  • Udo Niederbroker with a time of 28 minutes and eight seconds.
  • Harold Niederbroker with a time of 28 minutes and eight seconds.
  • Monique Lindeque with a time of 32 minutes and 10 seconds.
  • Sharon Holliday with a time of 45 minutes and 53 seconds.

Some of the times recorded in the 8km run were:

  • Jack Jacobs with a time of 39 minutes and six seconds.
  • James Vena with a time of 44 minutes and 22 seconds.
