ERVBA members honoured
The East Rand Veterans Boxing Association (ERVBA) held their year-end function and awards evening.
Boxing fans gathered at the Primrose Bowling Club for the East Rand Boxing Club’s (ERVBA) year-end function and awards evening, on Friday.
“This is an annual event and we usually host it in the last week of November or the first week of December,” said the association’s chairman, Nigel Pera.
“It has been a fun and very good year, especially in attendance.
“This was one of the best years we have had, we thank everybody for making it the success it was from one event and meeting to the other.”
Pera also said the association will be closed until next year.
“We will re-open next year, we plan to have our first meeting sometime in January,” he said.
“We are currently in talks about hosting a re-union next year.
“We last hosted one in 2011 at Emperors Palace and it was a huge success; we already have people calling asking when we will have another.
“If all goes we will have another ERVBA re-union.”
Trophies and certificates were handed out for various categories.
- Champions Trophy Award: Hennie Jordaan.
- President’s Award: Phil Labuschagne.
- Veteran of the Year Award: Des Blow.
- Boxer of the Year: Hekkie Budler Jnr.
- Chairman’s Trophy: Nigel Pera.
