ETSOE members excel in tournament

Local tennis players take first place at Gauteng East Junior Tennis Tournament final.

Ekurhuleni Tennis School of Excellence (ETSOE) players took part in the Gauteng East Junior Tennis Tournament final, at the Lakeside Tennis Courts in Benoni, on Sunday.

“The tournament was played over four weekends and concluded on Sunday,” said the local academy’s head coach, Loyiso Matsha.

“Our very own Lethabo Bapela, playing in the u-11 category, beat Dylan Jones to place first and was crowned the boys’ u-11 singles tennis champion for 2015.

“Tadiwanashe Chipfakacha, from ETSOE, also placed first when she won against Kyrin Oyua. She was also named the girls’ u-15 singles champion for 2015.”

Matsha said the academy members worked hard and they are happy with the results.

“Our members played well and their hard work, during practice and at tournaments, has been well rewarded,” he said.

“We are eagerly waiting for 2016, as we have put together a programme with the aim of producing players who will achieve national colours,” he added.

“More players are welcome to join our academy.”
