Football action in Primrose

Primrose Corner Football Club went against Knights Tavern Football Club on Sunday.

Primrose Sports Club hosted Primrose Corner Football Club and Knights Tavern Football Club’s junior fixture on Sunday.

“This was a friendly game, we host these games regularly and have done so for more than five years now,” said one of the organisers, Israel Ndlovu.

Ndlovu, who is also a player, said they are currently playing for the love of the game.

“This is more of a social club, we are not registered with any league although we are looking at joining one next year because we really love this sport and would like to take it further than friendly games,” he said.

“We are also using this to keep fit and healthy, and what better way to do it than doing it while playing the game we all love.”

The game was well played with the Corner boys trying their best to keep up with Knights.

Knights was in a robust attack mode and on many occasions managed to dribble past their opponent’s defence line.

This was well rewarded with a 5-2 win by Knights.

Ndlovu also told the GCN that the Knights’ senior team played against the Primrose SAPS’ team earlier that day.

“Our junior teams start from 18 years to 34, while the seniors are from 35 to 40 years,” he explained.

“The seniors took on the SAPS and it ended in a 0-0 draw, it was a well-played game.

“Knights and Corners are both from the Makause informal settlement which is where our practices and some of our games are held.

“We have 15 teams and are hoping to grow even more.

“We also do have fixtures held at Hattingh Park.

“We are not sure when our next fixture will be but while we are sorting that out we will be hard in at practice.”
