Stay in shape with aerobic marathon sessions

High performance aerobathon action invades Ekurhuleni.

“Being physically inactive is considered a risk factor for several illnesses and medical conditions,” said the metro’s spokesman, Themba Gadebe.

“Residents in Ekurhuleni are no longer exposed to this risk as Saturday mornings are now dedicated to aerobics marathon sessions.

“Since the beginning of the year, fitness fanatics have been converging at various sports grounds and community parks to partake in three-hour long aerobics sessions in a bid to keep their bodies in tip-top shape.”

One of the sessions took place on August 29 at Bulithando Park, in Kwa-Thema, while teams from the northern and southern parts of Ekurhuleni converged at the Reiger Park Arena for a more invigorating joint session.

“The city-wide aerobics movement event is free of charge and open to the public,” said Gadebe.

“These sessions include a variety of styles; Hi Low aerobics, Kata Box and Zumba.

“Participants at the Bulithando Park began the session with warm-up squats and brisk jumps, followed by intense 15 minute routines, with water breaks in between.”

“Keeping fit is my lifestyle and it gives me great pleasure to share my expertise with people who are passionate about leading a healthy life,” said a gym instructor from Duduza, Monde Ntuli.

The Ekurhuleni aerobathon sessions will continue every Saturday morning until December, from 8am until 11am, at various venues.
