Second in the league

Luso Africa Football Club bags a draw during a fixture against Corinthians-Black Aces FC.

Hattingh Park hosted a Super League First Division football fixture on Sunday.

Luso Africa FC’s u-17 team played against the Corinthians-Black Aces FC.

There was no time for analysing from either team, as they went straight into the game at full force.

Luso seemed much stronger, but that fell away when Corinthians scored a goal-taking lead.

Another goal by Corinthians rattled Luso into full-on defence mode.

Luso’s Dumisani Msongela brought their mojo back when he scored a fine goal just before the end of the first half.

Although no further goals were scored until half time, the audience witnessed more action.

Godfrey Hermanus, coach of the local team, must have said something to the players during half time, because they were more fired up and their energy was well rewarded with an equaliser by Nkululeko Nkutha.

Nkutha’s goal was scored two minutes into the second half, which caused more action, as Corinthians tried to take the lead again.

Halfway through the second half, the game became more intense as Corinthians scored another goal, taking the lead again with a score of 3-2.

Luso didn’t back down, as their shots at target increased with the hope of another equaliser.

Johannes Hlumnade brought Luso back into the game by scoring an equaliser.

Soccer fans were on their feet as their respective teams delivered a few nail-biting shots on target.

The match ended in a 3-3 draw.

“The boys played really well; we were two goals down in the first half and we came back and equalised, which took great effort,” said Hermanus.

“Although the game ended in a three-all draw, I am very happy with our players’ performance, they showed character.

“We are currently second on the league log.”
