Tebbutt Academy’s impressive results

Growing from strength to strength.

Tebbutts Mixed Martial Arts Academy members keep warm and excel at doing what they love.

“The members are dedicated and passionate about this sport, even during the holidays our practice sessions are full,” said the club’s Master Alex Tebbutt.

“The level of commitment is not only seen during practice, but also at competitions.”

“We recently had 16 of our members take part in the South African WTKA Championships, that were held in Centurion, Pretoria.

“It gives me great pleasure to say that our members managed to scoop 58 medals.”

Tebbutt told the GCN that the achievement is a reflection of the club’s strength.

“These impressive results not only show the members’ determination to prosper, but are also a true testament that our club is growing from strength to strength.

“The tournament was excellent, with great judges and competitors; a big well done goes to our members, as they put on their best performances.”

In other news, the club also received news that two of their members, Peyton-Jade Visagie and Frans de Vos, received their South African colours in kickboxing.

This was after their excellent performances at the South African WAKO Championships, that were held in Cape Town, recently.

Visagie and de Vos will be joining another club member, Hannah Wedel, who made it to the team (GCN, May 22).

“There are two South African teams, junior and senior, and these teams will compete and represent the country overseas; we are still yet to confirm the country and dates for the departure,” explained Tebbutt.

“We are very proud of our athletes, it is an honour to watch members perform like this.

“I have said it before, but I will say it again, the fitness training sessions we have before practice are turning out to be a miracle; since we introduced them the members have been excelling.”

The training sessions are held every Monday to Thursday, from 6pm to 7pm, and every Saturday from 7am to 8am.

The kickboxing sessions are held every Monday to Thursday from 7pm to 8pm.

“Anybody interested in joining the club is always welcome, even if you want to keep fit, you are welcome to join our fitness classes,” explained Tebbutt.
