Germiston City take on Kempton Park FC

Great football skills at an ELFA League fixture.

The Germiston City Sports Club played host to senior football action on Saturday.

The fixture was between Germiston City Football Club’s senior third division team and Kempton Park FC.

The senior players had a chance to show the young supporters how it is done, all while trying to better their positions on the ELFA league log.

Both teams used most of the first half to analyse each other’s style of playing before launching their game plan respectively.

Slow-paced football was a testament of the analysis but the tables turned as City dominated ball possession and increased their shots on target.

Although there were a few close goal attempts from both sides, the game went into half-time with no goals scored.

It seems Kempton went back to the drawing board during half-time as they punished the comfortable City team by scoring a goal within minutes of the second half.

The goal called for some serious action as City beefed up their defense while their opponents played to extend their lead.

City’s attackers managed to score an equaliser minutes after Kempton.

Fair-play gave way before Kempton scored another goal, extending their lead and they made sure they secured it until the end of the match.

The final score was 2-1 to Kempton.

“The first and second teams played away games against Randburg FC on Saturday,” said the communications officer for the Germiston City Football Club, Pieter Oliver.

“Unfortunately, the first team lost 3-1 and the second team lost 5-0.

“Randburg is a tough team to play against and they are currently second on the league, but well done to all the teams they put out their best.”
