Bowling for rhinos

Bowls tournament a success.

The Delville Germiston Bowling Club recently hosted an Easter Weekend Bowls Tournament.

“This year’s tournament was bigger than previous years, we had a great turnout,” said Brian Harley, a committee member at the club.

According to Harley, the two day tournament was a success and they had bowlers from different spheres of the country participating.

“We had a successful two days, everybody was co-operative and happy, we had fun playing the sport which we love,” he said.

“It was a fun weekend as players also had their friends and family supporting and joining in the fun.”

Harley also added that the tournament was for a worthy cause.

“Part of the proceeds will go towards the club and towards a Rhino Conservation Foundation,” he said.

“I must say that the club’s committee really gave their full support.”

“We would like to say thank you to the Germiston council, we received tremendous support from them.

“They made sure that our fields were clean and in top shape, they were working with us side-by-side.

“We are over the moon with the amount of support and help we received from them, they really helped make this tournament the great success it was.”

The club is set to host another tournament in August.

“We are looking at hosting another two-day tournament on August 29 and 30, and, once again, all the proceeds will go towards the Rhino Conservation Foundation,” concluded Harley.
