Running towards success

Young athlete on top form.

Amoure le Roux is a 17-year-old Germiston athlete who is in good shape and ready for upcoming competitions.

Among other things, the Diamond Athletics Academy athlete has her eye set on the Youth Olympic Championships that are scheduled to take place on July 15, in Columbia.

Before Columbia, le Roux must compete in the Gauteng and National Championships that will take place towards the end of this month.

She takes part in 200m and 400m sprint races, 400m hurdles and is a netball player.

With her current top form, the youngster already qualifies for an A standard at Athletics South Africa (ASA).

Her coach, Maria Diamond, is very pleased with her current form and confident that she will excel at upcoming tournaments and competitions with flying colours.

“She really worked hard during the December holidays, preparing for this year’s season, even on vacation in Durban,” said Diamond.

“I would like to thank her parents for their support.”

Although le Roux has already qualified for the Youth Olympics Championships, she first has to compete in the Schools National Championships, from March 26 to 28, in Rustenburg.

She will also take part in the Clubs National Championships, from April 9 to 11, in Bloemfontein.
