Primrose hosts explosive Fightstar 11

Audience witness first-class mixed martial arts action.

Fightstar 11 delivered explosive bouts on Saturday, at St John’s Hellenic Hall, corner of Lobeilia and Wychwood roads.

Fight fans witnessed first-class mixed martial arts (MMA) action as the fighters showed off their skills and abilities.

Kick-starting the night was Dirk Swanepool against Sheldon Victor in the lightweight bout.

One could say it ended before it started, with Victor winning by submission with a guillotine choke in less than 30 seconds into the first round.

The second bout saw Simon Harle take on Ronnie Thompson in the light heavyweight division.

This fight was another short one, which saw Harle win by a submission with a north-south arm triangle choke, also in less than 30 seconds into the first round.

The next bout, middleweight division, was the first full fight of the night, with Rocky Muabu going against Danny Baptista in the hexagon.

Although both men were not afraid to engage, it seems Muabu’s decision to work on Baptista’s ribs worked in his favour, as he won by a unanimous decision.

The fifth fight saw Albert Steyn and Stephen Goncalves showing off their skills in the hexagon.

The next fight, which was between Leon White and Fortuna Kwabe, saw White winning via unanimous decision.

Another middleweight division bout took place between Dimitri Fogg and Roedolf Van Heerden.

During the fight between Johan Bekker and Mark Kourie, the latter went straight for a standing guillotine choke and won by submission.
