Local athlete conquers athletics championships
Grobler to represent Gauteng at nationals.
Christelle Grobler, a Grade Seven pupil at Laerskool Oosterkruin, took part in the Gauteng Primary School’s Athletics Championships, which were held on March 6, at the Germiston Stadium.
Grobler (u-13), represented Ekurhuleni North (D17) in shot put and discus, where she won the shot put event and was crowned the u-13 shot put champion.
She also made podium in second position for discus, and was awarded a silver medal.
The youngster received 937 Athletics Performance Evaluation (APE) points for discus and 927 APE points for shot put.
Grobler was also ranked as one of the top 40 best female performers at the championships.
