Germiston City FC ready for the season

Super League starting soon.

Germiston City Football Club’s senior teams took part in another pre-season tournament, against tough opposition Kempton Park, on Saturday.

The match took place at Edenvale as the Kempton fields were unavailable, and Germiston City’s first side played an excellent game.

Kempton Park tried bully boy tactics against the young Germiston side, with Kempton being very physical and spurred on by a robust contingent of supporters, who goaded the Germiston players at every opportunity.

The Germiston side took it in their stride, and once they got over the initial onslaught and harsh tackles from the opposition, they came out as victors with a 4-2 score.

The reserve side had things a little easier and beat Kempton with a score of 4-0.

With the kick-off of the Super League in less than two weeks, players are enjoying the exposure of these competitive games.

The final pre-season match will be against Olympia on Saturday, February 28.

“The junior training got underway last week and we are still looking for players in all age groups as well as coaches,” said Peter Oliver, the club’s communications officer.
