Germiston Callies’ time trials

Boost your stamina.

Germiston Callies will continue to hold time trials every Tuesday, at 6pm.

“We hold the time trials right throughout the year,” said Victor Mhlakaza, a member of the club’s committee.

“It is a great way to build ones stamina and improve personal best times.”

The time trials are held over 4km and 8km distances, and start at the Germiston Stadium, on Delville Road North.

“We keep record of the times every Tuesday, and athletes try and improve on them every week,” explained Mhlakaza.

“All runners and walkers are welcome. We also have people from the community join us on Tuesdays.

“Among others, we also preparing for the Two Oceans marathon that is set to take place in April. We have 45 members who are going to attend the marathon.”

Mhlakaza added that he is among the club members attending the Two Oceans marathon.

“This year will be my tenth year participating, and that means I will be getting my permanent number. I am excited and can’t wait.

“As the club we are eager and ready to take on the marathon.

“When we don’t have major marathons, we host club runs. These are the long training runs, usually 25km,” he said.

The clubhouse is open after the time trials for people who want to join the club.
