Victoria Lake Canoe Club (VLC) launched their new Novice to Fish programme, on January 20.
The programme is aimed at getting novice paddlers from zero to hero.
“We had a great turnout, we knew that a lot of people wanted us to start such a programme but we weren’t quite sure about the number,” said VLC’s Wayne Saunders.
“The increasing interest in this sport is great; we look forward to kick-starting the programme.”
“Today it was just the launch, we just gave a brief introduction to this sporting code and told them about the basic equipment that will be needed.”
Among those present was Richard Cele.
“Richard coaches the senior development squad; he is also a paddler, and very good at it,” explained Wayne.
Wayne also said that more people are welcome to join the programme.
“If you missed the launch but are interested, you are most welcome, our doors are open,” he said.
