Triathlon and duathlon fever in Germiston

Germiston Lake abuzz with triathlon and duathlon action.

Trinity Sports announced that its inaugural Sprint Series, held at the Germiston Lake, on Sunday, was concluded on a high and has gained momentum in Gauteng.

Triathletes and duathletes from different parts of the country came to showcase their talents in the last edition of the sprint series for 2014 on Sunday December 14.

Trinity Sports sprint series comprised of three events in 2014 following International Triathlon Union (ITU) rules, the first edition was held on September 28 with the second on October 19.

“We are proud to have hosted a sprint series in Germiston with the backing and support of Central Gauteng Triathlon (CGT) and Triathlon South Africa (TSA),” said director of Trinity Sports, Japie Boonzaaier.

“This was our first series and has been well supported by local athletes.”

A total of 477 registered athletes, from different parts of the country, came out in numbers to showcase their talents in Sunday’s event.

A prize-giving ceremony was held shortly after the event.

The series winners in the senior male category, who participated in all three sprint series races, are:

q 1 Tiaan Rossouw, 59 points; 2 Cobus Kruger, 58 points and 3 Jason Booij, 54 points.
