Checkmate for local youngster

Youngster headed for SA Chess Championships.

Laerskool Oosterkruin’s Ruàn Möller (6) has been selected to represent Ekurhuleni Junior Chess’s u-8 A team at the South African National Chess Championships, to be held in Kimberly, from January 3 to 10, next year.

Möller is a student at Little Knights Chess Academy and didn’t know how to play the game of chess prior to this year.

With hard work, dedication and natural talent, Möller is making his way to the top, one move at a time.

“Möller says he loves the game of chess, because it makes him smart and he gets to make a lot of new friends,” Möller’s coach, Rayno Botha.

Apart form watching cartoons, building blocks and playing outside, Möller often enjoys a game of Chess on the iPad.

“Möller is a true Little Knight,” added Botha.
