Don’t miss the women’s football tournament

The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in partnership with the South African Football Association (SAFA) develop football skills for women through the Gauteng Women's Football Tournament.

The road to this year’s Gauteng Women’s Football Tournament provincial finals continues this weekend, with Ekurhuleni hosting the regional leg of the competition at the Elspark Sports Grounds, on Saturday (August 16).

Teams made up of players selected during the local tournaments will compete for a chance to be in the final Ekurhuleni regional squad, for the provincial finals.

The provincial finals will also feature women’s teams in various age categories, including u-13, u-15 and senior teams.

Organised by the Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, in partnership with the South African Football Association (SAFA), the women’s football programme is aimed at developing and honing women footballers and also increasing the participation of women in the sport.

The event is part of the preliminary football festivals that are scheduled in all SAFA regions of Gauteng and which will culminate in the provincial finals, that will take place during this month, Women’s Month.
