Golf club donates

Club gives for smiles again.

The Safari Golf Club, a charitable social golf club of 60 members, based in Gauteng, again handed over R150 000 to Operation Smile South Africa, as they did in 2012.

Their bi-annual charity golf day was held recently, at the Germiston Golf Club.

The club was founded in 1978, in Kempton Park, and they have already donated more than R650 000 to charity.

An amount of R150 000 was handed over to Dr Clover Ann Lee, representing Operation Smile South Africa.

It is estimated that the amount is sufficient to perform cleft lip and palate operations on at least 25 children.

The operations are performed by volunteer doctors and Lee is an anaesthetist on one of the teams.

The chairman of the Safari Golf Club, Peps Pretorius, wishes to thank all the sponsors, the major ones of whom were Oberon Pharmaceuticals, Landis & Staefa and André van Heerden.
