Fun day success

Youngsters have a blast.

The Germiston Sports soccer and cricket clubs and the Little Kickers joined forces and hosted a fun-filled successful Easter Fun Day on April 12 at the Germiston City Sports Club.

“The day was a huge success, we had close to 100 children and they had a blast,” said one of the organisers, Cristina Paul.

The Easter Fun Day is an initiative that brings all the children activities together and allows children to experience the different sports that are available at the Germiston City Sports Club.

Parents brought and supported their children as they were introduced to an active outdoor lifestyle while having fun at the same time.

“For most children, the highlight was the Easter Egg Hunt and all the chocolates that where being handed out; we also held Little Kickers classes and cricket classes,” said Paul.

The classes were not intense; they were just a fundamental introduction to some of the sports.

Once the children were, temporarily, separated from their parents they gave the events of the day their full attention and enjoyed every moment and seemingly forgot that their parents were around; the day proved that children still like to be outdoors.

“We had two raffles and the winners were Peter Oliver and Mpho Tsekoa, big congratulations to them,” said Paul.

Children from 18 months to 16 years came to join in the fun.

Jumping castles, Easter egg hunt, soccer and cricket games were among the activities the children enjoyed on the day.

The Little Kickers mascot, Lenny the Lion, was present, playing with the children and handing out Easter eggs.

“We encourage parents to bring their children down to the club and introduce them to the different sports we offer,” added Paul.

The organising committee would like to thank everybody that helped make the Easter Fun Day the success it was.
