Athletics presentation at the Germiston Stadium

A Power Point Presentation, on how to run better and faster as an athlete, will be shown at the Germiston Stadium, on May 5.

George Gundry, a local athletics coach, put together this inspirational programme.

“I put together this presentation because I would like to help South African athletes to achieve outstanding results, more personal best times and also reach international marathon times and possibly beat them,” said Gundry.

He is passionate about grooming South African athletes.

The presentation is based on guidelines from Owen van Niekerk, one of the most respected and experienced coaches in South Africa, who has trained more than 600 South African Champions in a coaching career spanning more than 50 years.

A group on this programme won the team prize in the Gift of the Givers Township Marathon, with Thapelo Mofokeng, from the group, finishing first.

Anybody is welcome to attend the presentation.

“We currently have scholars from various local schools training with our group, in events ranging from 200m to 10 000m,” added Gundry.

Although the presentation will touch on how to run, effectively, two hours and six minutes marathons and one hour half-marathons, other track events will also be discussed at the presentation.

The presentation will commence at 6pm, in the Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) boardroom.
