Witness first-class athletics at Masters Championships

Masters championships at the Germiston Stadium.

The Central Gauteng Masters Athletics Championships are scheduled to take place on April 12, at the Germiston Stadium.

Approximately 250 athletes, aged between 30 and 80-plus, from Central Gauteng and neighbouring provinces, are expected to participate in these track and field and race-walk championships.

One of South Africa’s top hurdlers, Shaun Bownes (43), who has just returned from the World Masters Indoors Championships, in Hungary, will participate in the men’s 110m hurdles.

Bownes returned from Hungary with a gold medal in the men’s 60m hurdles.

This will be the last provincial championships before the South African Championships, which will take place on April 25 and 26, in Rustenburg.
