Great results for Callies

Medals for Germiston Callies.

The Germiston Stadium hosted the Central Gauteng Athletics Championships on Saturday.

Athletes from different areas of Gauteng came out in numbers to showcase their talents.

Germiston Callies’ athletes were among those present and they produced impressive results.

Six of Callies’ athletes managed to get gold and silver medals.

“I am ecstatic with the athletes’ performance and results; this is really a big achievement from them, I am proud of all the athletes,” said Callies coach Stephané Kotzé.

  • Kayla Gilbert received a gold medal in the 100m hurdles.
  • Danie van Blerk received a gold medal in the men’s 200m sprint and a silver medal for the men’s 100m sprint.
  • Megan Phillips received two gold medals in the u-17 girls 100m and 200m sprint.
  • Jade Thiele received a gold medal in the senior women’s 200m and silver in the 100m sprint.
  • Natasha Myburg received a gold medal in the triple jump.
  • Pedro Aaron received a gold medal for the 300m hurdles and three silver medals in the long jump, u-15 boy’s 100m hurdles and the triple jump.

Aaron has qualified to represent the Gauteng team at the South African Schools Championships, in Polokwane, for the u-15 boy’s long jump, on March 27-28.
