Are you ready to compete?
Germiston athletes can get ready for the Central Gauteng Triathlon Championships, because entries are now open.
The championships will take place on February 9, at the Germiston Aquatics Club (GAC), at Germiston Lake.
This is the selection event for the Central Gauteng Triathlon team, but is also open to all non-registered athletes.
Due to the fact that the Duathlon World Championships are being held so early this year, CGT will not have the opportunity to stage a selection event to select the CGT team before the South African Duathlon Championships, on March 8.
This event caters for those who are passionate and for those who just want to have a bit of fun, and it includes those who are new to the sport.
There will also be a CGT Young Triathlon for u-12.
This is a Central Gauteng Triathlon Provincial Championship event and, as such, medals will be presented only to CGT/TSA registered athletes, for the first, second and third places in each age group.
These medals will be presented at the provincial CGT team kit and medal awards evening, to be confirmed after the event.
The Central Gauteng provincial triathlon team chosen will represent the province at the 2014 South African National Triathlon Championships, that will take place in East London, on March 23.
On-line entries close on February 6.
No manual or late entries will be accepted after February 6 and there will be no exceptions, so enter before the closing date.
Before entering, make sure you have registered with Central Gauteng Triathlon to qualify for selection to the CGT team.
Juniors, 11 years and younger, as at December 31, 2014, can register with CGT for free on the TSA website, but won’t qualify for provincial selection.
It is imperative for people to note that, when a race is full, entries for the particular event will be closed
Anyone interested in assisting with marshalling duties on race day to ensure safety at the event, must send an email with their details to cgtriathlon@webmail.co.za, with the header “CGT Tri Champs – marshall volunteer”.
