Sports awards coming up

Ekurhuleni's 2013 Sports Awards nominations now open.

Nominations for the 2013 Ekurhuleni Sports Awards are now open and individuals, clubs and organisations are invited to submit their candidates for the awards before or on February 3, 2014.

The year 2014 will mark the third year of the Ekurhuleni Sports Awards and March 14 is set to be a spectacular occasion.

Spearheaded by the metro, the awards seek to recognise sporting excellence in the region and to reward those who represent Ekurhuleni nationally as amateur or professional sportsmen.

Last year the likes of paralympic athlete Samkelo Radebe, South African hockey player Bernadette Coston, wrestler Adem Digovich and former Springbok rugby player Lawrence Sephaka received accolades at a glittering ceremony held at Emperor’s Palace.

Sportsmen and women who reside in Ekurhuleni or are members of an Ekurhuleni-based sports club or school may be nominated for their outstanding sporting achievements during the period starting January 1 to December 31, 2013.

Nominations must be submitted on an official nomination form, complete with a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) and motivation, if necessary.
