Elsburg resident concerned about the state of the suburb

Elsburg resident not pleased with rubbish piling up and has reported the issue to relevant offices with no success.

Cheryl Smith, Elsburg writes:

With regards to the article in the GCN (Residents tired of rubbish dump, February 2) pertaining to the rubbish on the corner of Pauw and Maritz streets in Elsburg, it is an absolute disgrace.

Last year I reported this same matter and more to our ward’s office.

Where do we draw a line; who is to be made accountable?

Our shops surely have a programme stipulating when to put rubbish out.

Do they keep to the rules?

There are bags daily on the centre paving of the main road.

Unfortunately, I cannot decide if it’s the shops’ owners that are not keeping to the rules or our municipal trucks that do not pick up the rubbish.

There are also many people that don’t have food and scratch in these bags and then they leave them on the pavements in a state.

Elsburg was a well-kept little town but now all the main streets and side streets are full of potholes and are just not maintained by our municipality.

It is a very depressing little town now.
