Resident reminisces about building’s good old days

Former Argyle Street resident wishes Joseph Bachfischer well with refurbishing building.

Johan Brand, Germiston writes:

Thank you for the article on the efforts by Joseph Bachfischer to renovate the abandoned building situated on the corner of Webber Road and Power Street.

I wish Joseph the very best and hope that he can manage to refurbish the buildings.

The article brings back a lot of memories as I grew up in number 14 Argyle Street which is around the corner from the building between the years of 1960 to 1980.

The post office was called the Germiston South Post Office and was a bustling post office at the time.

As reported the building was the SAPS family quarters which was a spick and span complex back in the days.

I was fortunate to grow up with a lot of children my age in Argyle Street and to this day we are still a band of friends and often come together to visit and reminisce about the good old days.

As the building was a SAPS building we were always on our best behaviour as children and we managed to stay out of trouble (or at least we tried).
