Leaf blowers are for lazy gardeners, says resident

Symhurst resident agrees that leaf blowers are a bane to the suburbs.

Dee Miller-Harmse, Symhurst Extension One writes:

I refer to the letter written by “Sleepless in Germiston” regarding leaf blowers in your May 12 edition.

I absolutely concur with everything that was said.

Our neighbour has a gardening service which starts at 6.15am on a Friday morning, waking up the entire neighbourhood.

It’s so annoying.

There is no reason for leaf blowing.

It’s for lazy gardeners.

The leaves are not gathered up into black bags to be disposed of.

They are simply shoved outside their property and down the road, often ending up in the stormwater drains, clogging the system when it rains hard, causing resultant flooding.

I personally believe these noise makers should be banned due to the dangerous decibel levels.

Most gardeners just sweep up leaves.

But to “Sleepless in Germiston” I would say buy good earplugs when you sleep during the day which will help tremendously.
