Today (April 11) is International Pet Day.
This offers a chance for those of us who own pets to show them how much we love them, no matter if they are furry, scaly, big or small.
Now, we all can think of the traditional things to do to show we care; a new toy, some tasty treats, or a long walk in the park or a fun game.
But the day calls on pet owners to think outside the box and come up with some ideas to celebrate your relationship with your pet.
The day also encourages you to think of other animals, so once you’ve indulged your own animals with their favourite treats and settled down for a snuggle, why not consider how you can make a difference by donating to a shelter or an animal welfare organisation.

There are so many neglected and unwanted animals waiting for some love and attention.
Many organisations also encourage the community to donate their time if you cannot afford to donate money, food or other supplies, remember every little bit helps.
