Load shedding is a joke

“Give us the services we pay for,” says local resident.

Chris van Schalkwyk, Elsburg writes:

Just a short letter concerning the load shedding our country is experiencing.

For the past few weeks, the country has been experiencing load shedding due to no maintenance of our sub-stations, not to mention the lack of maintenance at the country’s power stations.

Turbines have blown up at the power stations.

Although we are experiencing load shedding, our electricity bills are higher than normal.

Are we paying for another area’s electricity, which does not pay?

The other night, I contacted Eskom directly and explained to them what I have just mentioned.

They, or should I say, the operator asked me if I paid directly to Eskom.

My answer was, “no I pay it to the Ekurhuleni municipality.”

What is the difference if we pay Eskom or the municipality?

Whether you pay to either of them, if there is load shedding your lights will still be switched off at any given time.

This is a joke.

We pay rates and taxes, I wonder what for?

Roads have got potholes, street names are disappearing and grass does not get maintained.

I could carry on listing problems in our neighbourhood forever.
