Burning is a health hazard to all

What are they burning?

“Concerned resident”, Primrose Hill, writes:

I just wanted to share the horrible experience I had on August 1.

As the sun was setting I looked down into the Main Reef Valley, from my cottage window, in Primrose Hill.

And I saw thick black smoke rising up into the atmosphere.

People down there are burning something.

What they are burning I don’t know, but two hours later the whole of Primrose Hill was engulfed in a thick black mist and there was a funny smell in the air.

It was so bleak and horrible outside, I couldn’t even see the city lights over the Alberton valley, because of this thick acrid smoke in the atmosphere.

I’ve never seen anything like this before and I’ve been living in Primrose Hill since 1999.

This black smoke originates somewhere from the Cleveland area or The Gables.

I don’t know who was burning what, or why, but this is really bad because it’s affecting people’s health.

I’m quite sure it’s not industry-related, as I often see black smoke rising from The Gables.

I think the people who are doing this are destroying the quality of the air beyond belief.

They should be stopped by somebody.

It’s not good for them or anybody else.

That’s why poverty is such a bad thing in this country, because this unhealthy activity is poverty-related.

On August 1, Primrose Hill was unlucky, because the smoke drifted in this direction for the first time.

I pray this doesn’t happen often, because I love to walk around my yard in the evenings.

On that evening, however, I had to stay locked up in my cottage, so as to escape this poisoned air.
