Man nabbed for illegal firearm in Germiston and 245 others in operation

This operation was part of the Ekurhuleni weekend high-density operations, which spanned districts including Tsakani, Germiston, and Alberton.

A man was arrested in Germiston on August 24 for possession of an illegal 9mm Girsan Parabellum and 10 live rounds of ammunition.

The arrest took place between Railway Street and Germiston Taxi Rank following an intelligence-driven operation led by the Rapid Railway Response Police Unit.

This operation was part of the Ekurhuleni weekend high-density operations, which spanned districts including Tsakani, Germiston, and Alberton.

Over the weekend, 245 suspects were arrested for various offenses.

Firearms removed from the streets of Ekurhuleni districts by police and other stakeholders.

The operations, conducted from Friday, August 23, to Sunday morning, led to the removal of eight unlicensed firearms from the streets.

Ekurhuleni District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole praised the efforts of the law enforcement members involved in the operations.

She also urged the community to continue co-operating with the police to create safer neighborhoods.
