Jeppe learners celebrated during Headmistress’ Tea

The sessions with the headmistress allow learners to share stories, forge lasting relationships, and create a lifelong sisterhood support system.

Headmistress of Jeppe High School for Girls, Sybil Bhagwan, celebrated another Headmistress’ Tea while engaging with learners who had excelled in various school activities.

Held on August 7, the first tea was a resounding success.

It brought together the school’s talented crochet enthusiasts, accomplished sports stars, and academic achievers.

Bhagwan emphasised the importance of supporting, uplifting, and celebrating one another, cultivating a strong and vibrant sisterhood.

The second Headmistress Tea, held on August 12, celebrated the school’s first cricket team.

The team members are Sharne Smith, Jodie Burne, Tana Burne, Ruquaiya Abdeaal, Alicia Dicks, Fay Cowling, Amani Ayob, Fallyn Lawrence, Mikaela Bloem, Lethabo Malatji, Hafsah Muhammad, and Precious Idana.

The learners shared their experiences and passion for cricket, accompanied by their teacher and cricket coach Janco Thompson.

Fay Cowling was encouraged and supported by her team.

Cowling was selected to represent South Africa in the Women’s U19 cricket squad, yet she remains humble, supportive, and has the best sense of humour.

The learners were treated to delicious food and refreshing juices and they received a personalised gift pack.

The school’s marketing administrator Rebecca Malumba said the sessions with the headmistress allow learners to share stories, forge lasting relationships, and create a lifelong sisterhood support system.

It’s also an opportunity for connection, growth, and celebrating excellence among women at Jeppe.
