Members of Edenvale Lions Basketball Academy were recently spotted training at their home grounds.
The academy’s court located at Edenvale sports grounds was host to ELBA members training their eyes and practising their goal-shooting.
Coach and co-founder of Elba, Edson Makavan, informed Bedfordview and Edenvale News that changes had been made to the academy’s third Vale Tournament activation event.

Originally meant to be held in Alexandra in partnership with Alexandra Basketball Association, the event will now take place in Germiston Stadium.
Coach and co-founder of Elba Edson Makavan said that following discussions with the Alexandra association, it was decided to move the event to Germiston.
It will be held on August 3 and 4. This will be the third and final activation before ELBA’s annual TVT.
The event will be free and community members are encouraged to support their teams.
Makavan said hosting the final event at Germiston Stadium will be a nice finish for the activation event.

He said the activation events are being held in preparation for the annual TVT that will be held at Ellis Park Arena.
The November TVT will have R1m up for grabs.
Discussing the academy’s preparedness for the annual tournament, Makavan said the academy is almost ready.
“We are definitely on the right track. The way things are going and how all the partners have come together is motivating.
“People have realised that this is going to be a reality and we are excited to host the biggest basketball tournament in SA and Africa,” said Makavan.
