Nurses at Life Roseacres Hospital nominated for showing dedication

“We are proud of our candidates. It is an honour and a privilege to have two of our nurses nominated in the G-100 at the same time.

Local hospital Life Roseacres is happy to announce that two of its nurses were nominated for the Great 100 Nurses.

The G-100 nurses is an initiative that recognises 100 nurses nationally who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to provide the best care possible for their patients.

The recognised nurses are Nothando Ndlela and Jabulile Makubo.

Nothando Ndlela was nominated for the G-100 Nurses and she enjoys working with children.

Makubo began her nursing career in 2010 as a staff nurse.

After continuing her education, she began working at Roseacres in November 2022.

“I was taken aback to learn that I had been selected for the G-100. I was congratulated by my family and co-workers, and the best part is that everything was unexpected,” said Makubo.

“I work in the pediatric ward. I love children.

“The G-100 nomination means that my patients and superiors notice even the smallest things I do in my ward,” said Makubo.

Ndlela was inspired by her uncle’s daughter and developed an early interest for nursing.

She stated she would be inspired to take care of the sick even at home.

“I began my nursing education in 2017 and graduated in 2020. In 2021–2022, I completed my community service at a public hospital. In November 2022, I was hired by the hospital on a permanent basis.

“I was ecstatic to receive the G-100 nomination.”

Life Roseacres Hospital marketing and communications manager Janene De Beer said despite being relatively new to the field, both nurses have put a lot of effort into their work.

“They are aware of the responsibilities assigned to them and the risks associated with caring for their wards.”

“Jabulile has shown herself to be a capable leader once more. She makes a good plan for her day and handles small complaints with grace.

“If there are any gaps in the patient care, she will let you know and offer suggestions on how to fix and enhance it. She is a strong member of the pediatric ward at Life Roseacres.

“We are proud of our candidates. It is an honour and a privilege to have two of our nurses nominated in the G-100 at the same time.

“This further demonstrates the high caliber of nursing provided by the institution.

This is evidence of our programme’s success in equipping nurses with soft skills in communication, especially in light of the multicultural and diverse patient population we serve.

“We also provide internal rewards and recognition, which inspires employees,” said De Beer.
