Prince Mongezi Tom, the provincial secretary of Gauteng for the Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa (Contralesa), said Mabhedla Royal leadership aims to create a royal house that benefits its society using socio-economic development and community development initiatives.

Princess Rachel Mlambo was welcomed by traditional leaders on her arrival at the Germiston Lapa on April 9.

“Across the country, only Gauteng and Western Cape are without royal houses. We are engaging with the Gauteng premier to establish a royal house in the province,” said Tom.

“Chiefs in the urban areas have the challenge of land and Gauteng is regarded as a no man’s land. It makes it difficult for traditional leaders to be recognised in their respective towns.

Traditional artefacts were also on display at the imbizo.

“We have collaborated with several government departments to identify solutions that impact communities,” said Toms.

Various traditional leaders from respective royal houses attended the Royal Mabhedla Kingdom Imbizo in Germiston.
